Massive fire at Mantralaya or government secretariat in south Mumbai.

- Some people still trapped one 5th and 6th floor of the building. Nearly 200-300 people were inside the 7-storey building when the fire broke out.
- More than 25 fire engines fighting the flames. Naval helicopters join rescue and evacuation ops.
- No casualties reported so far. Oxygen vans have been sent to the spot for people who have been rescued.
- Reports: 8 people injured, two have serious injuries. The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals.
- JJ Flyover closed to civilian traffic. All roads to Mantralaya from Flora Fountain and Churchgate area blocked.
- The fire began on 4th floor. The floor houses offices of several state ministers.
- The fire has spread to the sixth and seventh floor. The Chief Minister's office is located on the 6th floor.
- Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan was inside the building when the fire began; he was led out to safety
- Mr Chavan is still inside the Mantralaya compound overseeing rescue operations and assessing the damage.
- Mumbai fire brigade announces 'brigade call' - an SOS to neighbouring municipalities for every fireman and fire engine they can send.
