I never touched her, says gym trainer accused of molestation

Mumbai: Following MiD DAY's report about a woman accusing her gym trainer of molestation, police arrested the trainer, Nitesh More, who works at Leena Mogre's Gym in Mumbai. Out on bail, Nitesh will be produced in court today.

Speaking exclusively to MiD DAY, he denied the allegations and said that the woman was trying to frame him because she felt spurned.

"When she joined the gym, she was being trained by someone else. But she insisted on being trained under me. She would ask me to come to her house to take her body measurements but I refused.  I told her it is the lady trainers' job but she insisted anyway. When I told her I was getting married to my girlfriend of five years, she was really upset.  She was interested in me and felt rejected. That is the reason she is accusing me falsely. I never touched her," Nitesh said.

The woman had enrolled for the special personal training at the gym two months back. She lodged a complaint alleging that Nitesh touched her inappropriately several times during her workout sessions at the high profile gym in November.

Inspector Baburao Mukerkar of Khar police station said, "We have arrested the accused, working for Leena Mogre's gym in Khar, under Section 354 on charges of molestation.  On Sunday, the victim had given us a written complaint against the trainer Nitesh. We called him in for questioning and have now arrested him. He will be produced in court on Tuesday."

The victim had told MiD DAY earlier, "Nitesh touched me inappropriately many times and I protested but still he didn't change his behaviour. I had even complained to Leena Mogre but she ignored my complaints."

Meanwhile, Leena Mogre, reluctant to comment on the issue, dissociated herself and said that she had nothing to do with the case and that it was Nitesh who had been accused.
"It is their personal matter and I have nothing to do with it," she said.

Although she said that she believed the charges have been fabricated. "I think all the allegations against Nitesh are false. I don't believe any of this is true," she added.

About allegations against her that she did not take any action against Nitesh, she said, "I knew about the complaint and wanted to talk to Nitesh about it.  But he was on leave for some days so I was unable to do anything. Before I could talk to him, she went to the police and the case came out in the media."
