Japanese found dead in Mumbai hotel

Mumbai: A 41-year-old Japanese national was found dead at the high-end hotel in suburban Andheri on Wednesday but the police have not found evidence of foul play as of now.

Toshi Yukai Matsueara, who worked as Chief of Export Sales for Japan-based Nikuni Company Ltd which manufactures industrial pumps, was found dead in his room in Hotel Intercontinental on Wednesday morning, said Dilip Patil, Senior Inspector at Sahar Airport Police Station.

"As of now, there appears to be no foul play and it seems to be a natural death. The body was taken to Cooper Hospital. The post mortem report would clear all doubts pertaining to his death," he told.

Matsueara landed in Mumbai last night along with his colleague Kenji Hayashi and checked into the hotel, Patil said.

"The two had come here to attend an exhibition at National Exhibition Centre today. This morning, his colleague, who stayed in an adjacent room, knocked the door of Matsueara's room but there was no response and so he alerted the hotel staff," Patil said.

"No article in the room was displaced and nothing suspicious was found in the room. Further probe is on," he said.
