Kaskar firing case: Chhota Rajan gang-member questioned
Mumbai: A suspected member of Chhota Rajan's gang was on Monday questioned extensively in connection with the firing outside the residence of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim's brother Iqbal Kaskar, in which the latter's bodyguard-cum-driver was killed, police said.

"Rajan gang member D K Rao is being questioned since afternoon in connection with the Pakmodia street firing as we suspect his role in it," a crime branch official said on condition of anonymity.

Rao may be arrested in connection with the firing after one of the arrested accused Umed Ul Rehman had indicated his role in the incident during the interrogation, police said.

"We are verifying the claims made by Rehman against Rao," the officer said.

Two gunmen had fired outside Kaksar's residence on Pakmodia street in south Mumbai on May 17, killing Kaskar's bodyguard-cum-driver Arif Syed Abu Bukha. Kaskar was not present at the site when the incident happened.

Six persons, including Rehman, have been arrested in the case so far.

Rehman (27), a sharpshooter and active member of Rajan's gang, and his associate Aasid Jaan Mohammed Shaikh (41) were apprehended in Goa on Thursday and subsequently arrested.

Two shooters Syyed Ali (29), a resident of Mumbai, and Indra Khatri (27), had earlier been arrested from near J J Hospital while they were trying to escape after the firing.

On May 25, two more accused Abdul Rashad Shaikh (21) and Adnan Idaayad Sayyed (21), who had allegedly shown the target -- Kaskar's driver Bukha -- to the two shooters, were arrested.
