Man commits suicide after death of girlfriend

Mumbai: Apparently depressed after his girlfriend died of heart attack, a 23-year-old man hailing from Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol at his suburban residence, the police said.

As his father and two brothers were out, Manoj Jaiswal shot himself on the chest from the firearm at his home in Gurudutt Nagar. The country-made pistol was believed to have been brought from Kanpur by the victim, police said.

According to the police, Manoj, who worked as a SIM card distributor, was in love with Kiran who hailed from Kanpur, for over a year but their families did not approve of their marriage plan as they were relatives by blood.

"Kiran died of heart attack on November 19 following which Manoj was stressed out and had started living secluded," P Mangaonkar, Inspector of V B Nagar police station, said.

Manoj went to Kanpur early this month and returned four days ago, the police said adding he might have brought the weapon from there.

A four-page purported suicide note was found in which Manoj mentioned about how he had felt after their parents did not agree for his marriage with Kiran, police said.
