Mumbai:
A 20-year-old habitual offender, who was alerted that police are on their way to nab him, managed to dodge over 25 police officials on the roof tops of a slum area in Jogeshwari.
He escaped despite the police firing three rounds at him during the chase.
According to Meghwadi police, acting on a tip-off about the whereabouts of the offender Asif Shaikh, who has various cases of chain snatching and thefts registered against him, the police officials went to arrest him in Ajamgad area, around noon.
For three hours, Asif dodged three constables on the rooftops, even when other officials stood below the shanties trying to stop Asif from escaping out of the area.
"During the chase, police fired three rounds at Asif's direction but he managed flee without any harm," Deputy Police Commissioner (Operations) Rajkumar Vhatkar said.
A couple of constables chasing him got injured, police said. However, police managed to nab one of his aides Majhar Shaikh.
