Mumbai: An unemployed alcoholic was found murdered on the roof of a defunct petrol pump in suburban Malad, police said on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Vijay Pawar alias Arun.
Pawar's body was found on the roof of Shantilal Chaturbhurj petrol pump that had been closed many years ago, on SV Road, on Thursday evening.
The murderers first tied his hands and legs with a telephone wire and then strangled him, as per the prima facie probe.
The police control room received a call after which the police reached the spot on Thursday evening and sent the body to the nearby Bhagwati Hospital for a post mortem.
"Pawar was last seen on Thursday morning around 10 am by locals. So, the murder has taken place sometime around noon," said sub-inspector Vinod Patil of Malad police station.
