Mumbai: The Customs Intelligence Unit has arrested a 25-year-old man with memory cards worth Rs 80 lakh at the international airport in Mumbai after he landed from Hong Kong, officials said on Monday.
According to the Customs officials, Rohit Arora was caught on Sunday after he landed from a Kingfisher flight from Hong Kong. What made the officials suspicious was his walking style.
"He was bit thin but his legs appeared bit fat," said a customs official.
After frisking him, the officers found the memory cards worth Rs 80 lakh which were concealed under long tubular elastic caps in his jeans pant," he said.
After his arrest, Arora admitted that he had the knowledge that he was carrying the memory cards.
"I argued in the court that he was a mere carrier and was doing this to fund cancer treatment of his father," said his lawyer Ravi Hirani and the court granted him bail for Rs 50,000.
