Man held for raping daughter at knifepoint for more than two years

Mumbai: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father at knifepoint for over two years at her residence in Antop Hill of central Mumbai, police said on Tuesday.

The accused identified as IA Khan (45), a second hand car salesman and a resident of Kamala Nagar slum in Antop Hill, was arrested on Monday night, after his daughter gained courage and complained that she was raped four times in the last two years, police said.

The accused was sent to police custody till September 15 by a local court on Tuesday, police said.

"Since June 2010 to September 2012, the girl, who studies in the ninth standard in a local school of Antop Hill, was raped four times by her father," Antop Hill police station's senior inspector Siraj Shaikh.

The accused also threatened family members of dire consequences in case they revealed anything to anybody, police said.

"Initially, the victim and her mother were afraid to disclose the incident among their neighbours and other family friends due to which the accused kept raping his daughter" he added.

On Monday night, Khan again raped her daughter following which the victim, accompanied by several neighbours, registered a complaint at the Antop Hill police station.

Khan has been booked under Section 376 (punishment for rape) and Section 506 (2) (threat of dire consequences) of the IPC, police said, adding that further probe was on.
