Mumbai Rain Live Updates: Visibility Reduced To 500 Meters, Traffic Disruptions Continue

Heavy rainfall in Mumbai has led to a reduction of visibility to 500 meters.

Mumbai: Mumbai got relief from scorching heat today as rains hit the city. The weather department has predicted Monsoons to hit the city in 48 hours. Mumbai weather was hot and humid weather for the past many days. The rains are definitely a relief for. Waterlogging is a common sight in Mumbai during monsoons and it is no different this time. Traffic and flight services have been disrupted due to the rain.

The monsoon has reached Goa and Konkan coast today as per the Met department and between June 9 and 11, Gujarat, southern Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Odisha are expected to get monsoon rain. Over the next 24 hours, conditions are favourable for further advance of the monsoon into interior parts of Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

With the India Meteorological Department or IMD predicting "heavy to very heavy" rainfall along the Maharashtra coast over this weekend, the Mumbai civic body is preparing itself to prevent and tackle monsoon-related disasters amidst inclement Mumbai weatherincluding cancelling leaves of all senior officials. 

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC or administration has taken a number of precautionary measures to tackle any eventuality in view of extremely heavy rainfall warning by the India IMD from June 9 to 11, a statement issued by the civic body said.
