Mumbai: Eleven people, including a 11-month-old, were injured in a cooking gas leak and fire incident in Thane on Tuesday morning. The condition of three of the injured is stated to be serious as they have been inflicted with more than 70% burn injury.
The incident took place at about 7 am at Anna Madrasi Chawl near Siddheshwar Lake at Paachpakhadi in the city. Two other neighbours, Arun Patil and Gulab Bhosale also sustained burns when the fire spread out of the rooms. Two persons, Anil Kelkar and Ashish Patil, who tried to save the people, were also slightly injured. It took nearly an hour for the fire personnel to put out the fire. Till then, however, Pangare's entire room was burnt to ashes. Naupada police have registered a case of accident and are investigating further.
