When Baby Ansh was lying in a muddy ditch, his face swarming with ants, no one wanted anything to do with him. It was Virar businessman Nimesh Bhansali who came to his rescue, washed off the mud and showered him with love and care instead. But after a week of caring for Ansh, Nimesh cruelly separated from him yesterday, when the newborn was moved to children's home in Dombivli.
A week after Nimesh found him dumped in a Naigaon nullah, Baby Ansh was discharged from hospital yesterday and was taken to the Bhiwandi court to decide his future. Nimesh drove Ansh there, and his wife, Kalpana held on to the baby through the entire journey. They were accompanied by a female constable to watch over the child, as well as mid-day photographer Nimesh Dave.
However, when they got to court, the judge wasn't present, so they then drove to the children's home run by Janani Charitable Trust in Dombivli. To their shock the Bhansalis weren't even allowed to step inside the children's home and help Ansh settle in.
As Nimesh drove, his wife Kalpana held on to Baby Ansh all the way from Kandivli to Bhiwandi and then Dombivli, where they had to part with the newborn.
"It was a very bad day for me. Respecting the judiciary, I took the child to Bhiwandi for further procedure, but as the judge was absent today, Ansh was moved to a children's home. The staff there was so rude; they told me that they don't need me now and didn't even allow me to see Ansh. I am worried about Ansh and am praying that he should be given proper care by the children's home," said Bhansali, who was in tears after handing Ansh over.

"I think the system is very bad. What is the fault of the child that he has to roam here and there for legal procedure? He is too small for these things," added Nimesh, who intends to approach the court on Wednesday to ask for interim custody of Ansh.
mid-day contacted the children's home but the caretaker refused to comment. The doctor who was treating Ansh at Oscar Multispeciality Hospital in Kandivli, Dr Nitin Pawar requested the police staff to ensure good care is taken of the baby as he was still quite weak, even though he had grown from 2.6 kg to 2.7 kg during his week in treatment.
"We all got very emotional and everyone was present to say goodbye. I have told the police staff that we will do his vaccination and other treatment free of cost at any point he is in need. His feeding should be proper wherever he is being kept. I have requested that kid can stay in hospital until a decision is made regarding his final home," added Dr Pawar.
