Mumbai:
A city-based dentist has filed a case against his counterpart from Pune for posting an advertisement offering lectures and practicals to dental students. According to Dr Vivekanand Rege, the advertisement posted by Dr Swapnil Bumb on his Facebook account was highly misleading. Besides, Dr Rege has also lodged a defamation case with the MRA Marg police station against Dr Bumb.
Based on Dr Rege's complaint, the cops yesterday wrote to Dr Bumb, asking him to come down to Mumbai and register his statement with them. Dr Rege has been associated with Nagpada police hospital and has been providing free dental services to Mumbai police for 29 years.
In reply to Dr Bumb's ad on Facebook, Dr Rege wrote (verbatim): Dear sir, in the interest of students, I request you to post all the names of your faculty subject wise with their degrees and teaching experiences, here on Facebook, as you did about your Moradabad conference, so that students will get a first-hand information & will also bring transparency to your venture."
Two days later, in his response to Dr Rege's post, Dr Bumb reportedly accused the former of misunderstanding and underestimating his talent. It was based on this reply that Dr Rege filed a case of defamation against Dr Bumb.
Dr Rege, said, "It is ok to give free coaching to dental students. But when I asked Dr Bumb about the details, he deleted the post. Two days later he uploaded some rubbish about me. Based on this post, I registered a complaint against him with the Maharashtra State Dental Council (MSDC)."
N More, senior PI, MRA Marg police station confirmed that they have received a complaint from Dr Rege against Dr Bumb, but refused to divulge details of the case.
Commenting on the issue, Dr Sharad Kokate, vice president, MSDC, said, "It is unethical to conduct such coaching classes and hold practicals for students. Once I go through the letter, we will decide on the kind of action to be taken."
The other sideDr Swapnil Bumb said, "I deleted the post because I don't want any debate on it. I was not going to give any practicals on live or dead people. I had planned to use wax or POP for practicals. Dr Rege misunderstood me. Instead of guiding me, he took the entire issue in a wrong way."
