The women are alleged to be members of the Nationalist Congress Party
Mumbai:
Three men accused of raping a photojournalist in Mumbai last week were pelted with eggs outside a local court this morning, allegedly by members of the Nationalist Congress Party, which partners with the Congress in the Maharashtra government.
The men were brought to court by the police to seek an extension of custody.
Five men were arrested within 70 hours of the attack in the heart of Mumbai, a city considered among India's safest for women.
One of the accused is 16 years old, and his case will be tried by a juveniles court.
The police had earlier insisted he was 19 and had revealed his name, a violation of the law.
