Mumbai:
A 33-year-old GVK security guard was kidnapped and assaulted by a group of youths from Ghatkopar after he chatted on Facebook with one of their girlfriends. According to the police, the security guard, Sandeep Shinde, is a resident of Kaju Tekdi in Ghatkopar, and the group also belongs to the area.
Satish Babban Lokhande (27), Dinu Singh (21), Prathamesh Shedge (19) along with two minors were arrested, but the main accused, Shubham Juvatkar and Guddu, are still absconding. The incident took place on Saturday evening.
The youths kidnapped Shinde, took him somewhere in Ghatkopar, locked him inside a room for a few hours and beat him up. "Juvatkar threatened Shinde and even made a video of the latter with a sickle on his neck.
Shinde can be seen apologising to Juvatkar in the video and he was even made to say that he would never talk to Juvatkar's girlfriend again. The youths snatched Shinde's cellphone and let him go," said Sub-Inspector Vivek Narvekar from Ghatkopar police station.
Shinde's family admitted him to a hospital and informed Ghatkopar police station. The case was later shifted to Andheri police station. Senior Police Inspector Venkat Patil from Ghatkopar police station said, "We spoke to the victim, who had to get eight stitches on his head and had several bruises on his body.
The five accused, including two minors, were arrested and the case was transferred to Andheri police station." The accused have been booked under Sections 397 (robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 367 (kidnapping or abducting in order to subject person to grievous hurt, slavery, etc), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code along with relevant sections of the IT and Arms Acts.
