A Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) security guard on Friday nabbed a con woman posing as a BMC employee. She had been promising jobs at the corporation to graduates for two years. She collected around Rs1 lakh-Rs1.5 lakh from each person.
"Dipti Mulik, 27, was arrested for forgery and cheating. The police recovered a bogus BMC ID card and some fake call letters from her, "said an officer. The Bhoiwada metropolitan court remanded her in police custody till December 17.
Ashok Rane, a guard at the BMC ward office 'G' South, noticed her behaviour and had her arrested. She allegedly duped more than 35 people across Mumbai by promising jobs of assistants, clerks, sanitary workers and engineers in the BMC. She had amassed over Rs18 lakh in two years.
