Mumbai:
Mumbai Police has arrested a man for the murder of a woman whose body parts were found in different parts of the city last week.
"We had very few clues but we investigated the case and during investigation we got to know that a missing complaint had been registered at the Saki Naka Police station. We took the girl's boyfriend into custody and he admitted to his crime," a police officer said.
Fashion designer Kanta Shetty had been asking Prabhakar Shetty, an employee of the Chembur Gymkhana, to marry her, police said. He allegedly strangulated the woman and then chopped her body to dispose it, they added.
The case is similar to the Neeraj Grover murder case where Naval Officer Emile Jerome Matthew and his girlfriend Kannada Actress Maria Susairaj disposed of the body of Neeraj Grover in the jungles of Manor in Thane after he was murdered. Maria was convicted for destruction of evidence and Emile was given a prison sentence of ten years.
