Mumbai:
A 27-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself in his house at Pratiksha Nagar, Sion. Right before the act, he recorded a video expressing his love for his wife. The police said that less than a year ago, he had married his childhood friend Trupti but she wasn't in love with him, and had fallen for a colleague of hers.
The police said that on November 18, before killing himself, Jayesh Raut recorded a video and messaged it to his wife.
"In the video, he spoke of his state of mind. He said he was truly in love with her, but was very unhappy. He had earlier written to her saying that if he died, she and her lover, whom she had started staying with, would be blamed," said Rajdoot Rupawate, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Wadala division.
Trupti's mother allegedly forced her to marry Raut, a driver by profession, in court. The couple's marital life was marked by constant disputes. Trupti, who works at a car showroom in Mahim, was having an affair with Rajesh Verma, a sales manager there.
Raut learnt that 23-year-old Trupti stared frequenting Verma's house in Virar for overnight stays. They used to have arguments about it, and on November 18, Trupti left their Sion house to stay with Verma, who even came to pick her up.
This angered Raut no end and he hanged himself.
When Trupti got his message, she called up Raut's brother, a florist near Siddhivinayak Temple, and informed him about it.
"We have arrested Trupti and Verma on the evidence that we gathered, since Raut has blamed her. Trupti did not even attend Raut's last rites, after which the family approached us," said ACP Rupawate.
