Mumbai: With the Maharashtra government yet to reach a consensus over Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro Rail fare, Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL), which is operating the corridor, today said it will continue to charge the current fare of Rs 10 to Rs 40 till November 30.

"MMOPL will continue to charge the current discounted fare of Rs 10 to Rs 40 till November 30," MMOPL spokesperson said in a statement in Mumbai.

Based on the advisory of the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC), MMOPL has already approached the state government and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to achieve the dual objective of affordable fare and business sustainability, it said.

Due to the impasse between the state authorities and MMOPL over the fare after FFC recommended a hike ranging between Rs 10 and Rs 110, the company had extended the current fare deadline till October 31.

Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city.

It is designed to reduce traffic congestion and supplement the overcrowded Mumbai suburban railway network.

The system's first line on Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar route started operating last year.
