Mumbai: A young photojournalist, whose gang-rape in the heart of Mumbai triggered outrage and shock in the country, fainted in court today.

The 22-year-old was testifying against the five men who are accused of raping her after they tied up her male friend with belts at the  deserted Shakti Mills.

The woman has been taken to hospital.

She was assaulted while on assignment in August. She has testified that her attackers held a broken beer bottle to her throat while attacking her to prevent her from shouting for help.

Her colleague and she were later freed by the attackers and escorted to a nearby train station to ensure they did not head to a police station to report the assault. But the photographer and her friend went to hospital straight away. Doctors and police officers say the samples collected from the woman will help establish the guilt of the men who have been arrested.
