MMRDA Ground in Mumbai prepares for Anna fast

Anna Hazare will leave his village Ralegan Siddhi in the afternoon and is likely to reach Mumbai by late evening today.

Sources say Anna Hazare will travel by road. However, his doctor has advised him to travel by air. Via road, It takes approximately five and a half hours from Anna's village Ralegan Siddhi to reach Mumbai.

Mr Hazare would be starting the fast at 11 AM tomorrow.

The Maharashtra government has fortified the fast venue here by deploying 2000 police constables and 200 sub-inspectors of police.

The security at the ground of Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority in suburban Bandra-Kurla Complex will comprise 2,000 constables, 200 sub-inspectors of police, six platoons of state reserve police force, three teams of Quick Response Team and two Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads.

Preparations for Anna's fast are on full swing at the MMRDA grounds in Mumbai. A 12-feet stage has been erected for Anna . There is also a rest room with an attached washroom adjoining the stage. Some 32 mobile toilets will be provided for protesters and a fire tender and six ambulances with a team of 12 doctors will be stationed at the site.

The ground can accommodate around 60,000 people but team Anna members say they expect as many as one lakh people.

The ground will have six emergency exits, 16 fire extinguishers and six metal detector units, besides round-the-clock ambulance services.
