Mumbai: Struggling with flooded roads and traffic chaos after heavy rain, the people of Mumbai today took to social media to express their anger and reach out to those in trouble.

"The first signs of rain in Mumbai and it's become a deluge! India's infrastructure woes all too evident," said a tweet.

Mumbai's civic body was pummeled in tweets posted with the hashtag #everyyearsamestory, which was trending in the city.

"I think the Mumbaikar tax-payers money is used to block the city's drainage system. #everyyearsamestory," tweeted filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar. It has been retweeted nearly 400 times and favourited 524 times.

"School & college should have vacations frm June to August," suggested one citizen.

One tweet reached out to people stuck in flooded roads. "People stranded in Mumbai, please tweet location with #MumbaiCarPool ...People driving in the area, please try & help. PL RT," it said.

The BMC had claimed that its road repair work would fortify the city against flooding, which takes place every time the rainfall is heavier than normal.

Citizens complained that despite the claims, areas notorious for flooding remain just as bad, with almost thigh high water.

"Rain water doesn't go down the drains but tall claims made by the BMC sure does," tweeted Malay Jog.
