Mumbai rave party: 44 detained test positive for drugs
Mumbai: At least 44 people, who were arrested from a rave party in Mumbai's suburban Juhu last month during the IPL tournament, have tested positive for drugs.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik told reporters that out of 46 samples - tested at the Cooper, JJ and Bhabha hospitals - 97 per cent have tested positive.

Nearly 100 people were detained after the Mumbai police had raided an alleged rave party at a hotel in suburban Juhu on May 20. IPL cricketers Wayne Parnell and Rahul Sharma were also among those detained from the party.

According to the police, most of those detained were foreign nationals. They were subjected to a medical test to confirm if they had consumed drugs and then later released.

During the raid, the police also seized 110 grams of cocaine and MDMA, popularly known as Ecstasy, from the famous Oak Woods Hotel, where the rave party was being held.

A case has been registered against the hotel under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances act (NDPS).
