Mumbai school shocker: 1st standard student chained for talking in class
Mumbai: A case of corporal punishment has been registered against a teacher of a school in Dadar, a surburban area in Mumbai.

In the complaint to the police, the parents of a class I student have alleged that on March 13, the boy was chained and paraded in the school as punishment because he was talking in the class.

"They chained my son along with other students and paraded them in the school. My son was made to clean the toilets and was locked in a room... The school says that my son is lying and that no such incident has happened," the boy's father told NDTV.

"I will get my son admitted to another school," he added.

A case under section 23 of the Juvenile justice act, for causing humiliation to a child has been registered by the Mumbai police. However, the accused teacher has not been arrested yet.

The police are recording statements of the student's classmates. They are also awaiting the child's medical report to ascertain if he has sustained any injuries. However, they are not replying on just the medical report because the incident took place a couple of days ago.
