Mumbai:
With an aim to save energy by using computers efficiently, students of Maharashtra Vidyalaya and MH High School participated in a rally on the occasion of World Computer Literacy Day on Thursday. Nearly 150 students took part in the awareness rally that started at 10am.
From the last decade, every school has been imparting the knowledge of computers right from the primary classes. But at the same time it is vital to know the importance of saving energy in this era where global warming is a threat to life.
Therefore the rally was organised to reveal facts behind usage of computers and help to save energy. "Computer literacy is no doubt important these days.
But at the same time it is important to keep track of energy consumption. As saving energy is the need of the hour, the rally had awareness banners and posters that gave tips on saving energy," said Diwakar Thombare, in-charge for the computer section of both the schools.
Students explained people about computer literacy and its connection with the environment. The simple ways like not displaying wallpapers and screensavers on the computer will help in saving around 18% of energy was discussed during the rally.
Information on how to use the hi-tech mobile phones, things to keep in mind before using social networking websites was shared.
