Mumbai: Teen gang-rape survivor wants her rapists to be hanged
Mumbai: The 16-year-old girl who was gang-raped in Mumbai on Friday by four men in an open drain has demanded the death penalty for her rapists.

"I want them to be hanged. They have ruined my life and if they go scot free, they will ruin the lives of other women too," she told reporters.

Three of the main accused in the case have been arrested by the Mumbai Police. Three other accused are, however, still on the run.

Wasim Vatta, Yuvraj alias Surya and Shiv Kumar alias Kalva were picked up from Diva on the outskirts of Mumbai in Thane district and produced in a court which sent them to police custody till November 12.

The police had earlier faced flak for delaying the registering of an FIR, which was filed only after a social worker stepped in. An enquiry was ordered into the delay yesterday. Police sources have told NDTV that the enquiry report has recommended the suspension of two policemen for lapses.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Praveen Patil said, "Action will be taken based on the enquiry report."

Meanwhile, this morning a woman came to the police station alleging that her minor daughter was raped and threatened by one of the accused arrested in this case. She told reporters outside court that the police had not registered her complaint. The police have now registered her complaint and are investigating the case. A delegation of BJP workers also met local police officials to express their displeasure over the way the case was handled initially.
