Mumbai: Woman Tries to Break Up Road Fracas, Ends Up With 7 Stitches

Almas Huna tried to resolve a traffic dispute, when she was attacked. She ended up needing 7 stitches to the injury on her ear.

In a case of road rage, a 25-year-old woman, was allegedly assaulted by two women in Andheri and abused by two men who were also travelling in their vehicle. The automobile had been allegedly parked in the middle of the road. The victim was on her way from Bandra to Andheri, to pick up her son from his school outside her building in Manish Park, Hari Nagar. When she requested the accused to park the car aside and resolve the matter, she was allegedly abused, assaulted and humiliated on the road.

The victim Almas Huna (25) was assaulted in Marol, in Andheri (East), which falls under the jurisdiction of the MIDC police station. The victim was coming back to Andheri after visiting a tailor, to pick up her son from school.

Road rage

While on her way, she saw that two cars had collided with each other, throwing traffic off-gear. She approached the group in one car and requested them to move their vehicle and resolve the issue, and let the traffic resume. According to Almas, when she went towards the car, two men from the automobile started abusing her; when she protested, two women exited the car and started abusing her. When the argument heated up, a female passenger from the car attacked her with a key, which injured her ear.

The accused then fled the spot in their car. Almas went to the MIDC police station. The cops then took her for a medical check-up where she had to get seven stitches on her ear. The police then registered an FIR against four unknown accused.

"I had gone to Bandra to visit my tailor, and while returning, when I reached Marol, I saw two car owners fighting due to which the traffic had halted. I was in a hurry, as I wanted to pick up my son near my house as the school bus drops him at 6.30 pm," Almas told mid-day.

"I parked my scooter and approached them and requested them to park their car aside, but they started abusing me. I got scared, but as my son would come at any time, I showed some courage and told them not to abuse me and resolve the issue at the corner of the road," she added.

"Two women came out of the car and started abusing me. I did not think that they would harm me, so I told them not to abuse, which angered them and they started to manhandle me. A woman from the group attacked me with a key, which injured my ear," she said.

According to the police, the victim had noted down the Honda City's (MH 02 AK 5490) number and gave it to them. The police have sent the number to various RTOs for the owners' details.

According to Rajaram Maandge, senior police inspector of the MIDC police, the victim was taken to hospital for a medical; after the report, an FIR was registered. "We have registered an FIR against four unknown accused. We have sent the car number to the RTO for the registration details, and a photo of one accused is with us. We are looking into the matter," said Maandge.
