Mumbai:
Kashimira police solved the murder of a six-year-old boy from Penkarpada. Officials also succeeded in arresting the culprit from a remote village in Punjab and brought him to the city on Saturday.
On the night of November 25, Haidar Khan, 35, resident of Penkarpada lodged a 'missing person' complaint about his six-year-old son Asif. Haidar's son was playing outside his house in the evening, but later disappeared.
Kashimira police found his dead body near Jaya Park next morning. The boy's head was smashed by a stone which was found near the corpse. Constable Bhagwat started investigation and found that Pappu Singh, 32, neighbour of Haidar was missing. Police then started tracking his mobile phone, it was detected in Kurali village in Punjab.
A special team comprising constable Bhagwat and others was sent there and Pappu was nabbed. "Pappu is unemployed. Though the motive of murder is not clear, we think personal rivalry led to the killing," said Anil Patil, senior inspector of Kashimira police station. Sub-inspector Ajay Sindkar is investigating this case.
