Mumbai:
A 17-year-old pizza delivery boy has been arrested by the Mumbai police for allegedly attempting to rape a 22-year-old girl at her home, where he had gone to deliver an order on Tuesday evening.
The girl had placed an order with the Chovisan Pizza Center in Worli in Mumbai. The accused delivered the pizza to the girl, but reportedly returned to the house when he sensed the girl may have been alone at home. On the pretext of checking if he had delivered the right pizza, the accused went to the kitchen, according to the girl's police complaint.
He then reportedly attempted to rape the girl, who also alleged that the accused assaulted her with a kitchen knife and threw chilli flakes at her when she raised an alarm, after which he ran away.
The neighbours, who heard the commotion, entered the house and found the girl severely injured. She was immediately admitted to a hospital and her parents were informed.
The police questioned the owner of the pizza delivery center, who led them on to the accused. He was later arrested and sent to a juvenile remand home.
The girl, according to the doctors, is out of danger.
