Mumbai: A question was found missing from the paper given to around 38,000 aspiring cops in the city yesterday, after which the police officers conducting the exams took written assurances from the applicants that they would not drag the police department to court for the oversight.
Around 38,000 applicants appeared for a written test for the post of 2,753 police constables. There was heavy bandobast at all the 87 centres across the city, for the exams. "The exams were going to start around 11 am, and we realised that question number nine was missing was missing in set D.
But since question number 59 had appeared twice on the paper and the two questions printed were different, we passed a wireless messages to all centres, asking that applicants be told to consider question 59 as question 9," said a cop, who served as examiner.
"The paper was for 100 marks and it was carried out peacefully. There was only one small printing mistake, and we have informed candidates about it in advance," said DCP Mahesh Patil, spokesperson for Mumbai Police.
