Mumbai: Finally it's time for some smiles on the faces of Mumbaikars as heavy pre-monsoon showers welcomed the city in the early hours of Saturday.
Beating the soaring temperatures over the past few days, Mumbai finally woke up to overcast skies and heavy showers after the MeT Department declared the south-west monsoon's onset over Kerala, one day later than what was announced in an earlier forecast.
The monsoon this year is crucial for farmers in India, especially the areas reeling under severe drought, crop failure and farmer suicides. The MeT Department, however, says that Mumbai will have to wait a few more days for the monsoons to set in.
