The mother of a 15-year-old girl was in for a rude shock when during a routine check-up for stomach cramps, the doctor revealed that the minor was pregnant. When the woman confronted the girl, she cooked up a story about a three unidentified persons who ganged up on her and raped her.
The mother immediately approached the MHB police station, Borivali (West) and filed a complaint. During investigation, it turned up that the girl was making regular calls to one particular number. The cops traced the number and discovered that it belonged to Ashok Rathod (21) a resident of Shivaji Nagar in Govandi. The cops picked up Rathod, who revealed that he was having an affair with the minor for the past six months. The police have arrested Rathod on charges of rape.
Fairy taleAccording to the police, on December 15, the girl -- resident of New Link Road near MHB colony -- was taken to Bhagwati Hospital by her mother as she complained of stomach pains. Doctors at the hospital, after diagnosing the girl, revealed to the mother that the girl was two months pregnant. The mother questioned the girl. The victim informed that while on her way to the bathroom, close to their house, three unknown men abducted her and took her to an isolated place. Two men held her, while the third raped her. The mother then approached the local police station and lodged a complaint.
After recording the boy's statement the officers asked the girl about the same, she confessed to the affair, however, she told the police that she did not have any knowledge of sex and the boy had mislead her, convincing her that nothing would happen.
"We suspected foul play and detained Rathod," said SPI Raghunath Dalvi of Crime Branch unit 11. "On enquiring the boy confessed that he was having an affair with the girl since the past six months. The boy also said that he used to work at a private firm in MHB when he met the girl. The two had begun dating. The couple used to meet at the house of a friend of the accused where they had intercourse," said Dalvi.
