Mumbai: A pregnant woman was set on fire allegedly by her husband at their residence in suburban Malwani after she refused to give him money for liquor, police said on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Sadhana Sonavane, sustained 90 per cent injuries and is fighting for life at the civic body- run Bhagwati hospital, they said.
According to police, Sadhana, who is seven months pregnant, had an altercation with her husband Sunil last night after he demanded money to buy liquor.
"When she refused, he poured kerosene on her and set her on fire," said Dattatray Jadhav, inspector at Malwani police station.
"She was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital with 90 per cent burn injuries. An attempt to murder case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched for the accused," he added.
