Mumbai: An argument over a mere Rs 4 led to the death of a man in Nala Sopara near Mumbai. Forty-year-old Ravi Bhagwat, a ragpicker, was allegedly stabbed to death by a food stall worker on Saturday. The incident happened just 100 metres away from Tulinj police station. It was captured on a CCTV camera installed near the crime site.
The police have filed an FIR against three accused. While two of them have been arrested, the main accused, who stabbed him with a chopper, is still at large, police said.
Three police officers have been suspended and investigations are on, a senior officer said.
Ravi and his friend had gone to have bread omelette around midnight when a fight broke out over Rs 4 between him and the vendor, who along with a few others attacked him.
At the Tulinj police station officers filed a complaint against the vendor and his friends, and admitted him to a civic hospital where he died a day later. The Palghar SP suspended three cops for not registering a murder case.
