Mumbai:
Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) today said it ensured cancellation of two 'rain dance' events organised on the occasion of Holi.
Some parts of the state are severely gripped in drought and the party had appealed for people's participation to conserve water during Holi celebrations, MNS general secretary Shalini Thackeray said.
She claimed that two scheduled events of rain-dance, one in Andheri and one in Juhu area of the city, were called off following warning by the regional party.
"We had not raised objections to playing music as part of Holi celebrations. Our appeal was to play dry Holi without any wastage of water. Following our appeal, the organisers assured MNS of dry celebration this year and cancelled the rain dance events," Ms Thackeray said.
