Mumbai:
Approximately 35,000 Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) employees will get a Diwali bonus of Rs 7,500 each. The Bombay High Court has ruled in favour of employees who had earlier gone on strike.
The High Court has left the final decision in the case on a single judge bench, which will decide on December 14.
If the court later rules in favour of the BMC, the amount will be deducted from the December salaries of the employees.
Around 1,20,000 employees of the BMC went on strike on September 19 and 20, following which the BMC decided to cancel their Diwali bonus.
The strike was called off after the government gave assurances to the Shiv Sena-led Union which had supported the strike.
