At 10 am on Saturday, Constable Shyamrao Gangaram Patil of Marol police station was attacked by two pickpockets as he boarded a bus to Ghatkopar.
The incident took place at Jambhali Naka in Ghatkopar. Just after the thieves tried to steal his wallet, 56 year-old Patil caught hold of them, halted the bus and took an autorickshaw to Ghatkopar police station to file the complaint.
The duo, however, pulled out a blade and attacked him before jumping out of the vehicle and fled soon after. Patil filed a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) against the accused at Ghatkopar police station after which he was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar east. Patil sustained severe blood loss and was later shifted to Wockhardt Hospital, Mulund where he is recuperating.
