Mumbai:
A 20-year-old Saudi woman today delivered a baby boy inside a restroom of the city's international airport during a transit halt en route Riyadh.
Alhagbani Haya Sud had traveled in from Hyderabad and was supposed to travel by flight AI-921 to Riyadh which departs at 1600 hrs, an airport spokeswoman said.
Sewta Satpal, a housekeeping staff at the airport, found out that she has gone into labour and assisted by calling in airport doctors who helped deliver the baby boy at 1345 hrs, the spokeswoman added.
Both the mother and the newly born are fine and have been subsequently shifted to a private hospital in the vicinity of the airport, she said.
Ms Sud was accompanied by her mother, brother and sister on the flight, she added.
