Mumbai:
An Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and a constable have been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a restaurateur, Anti Corruption Bureau officials said.
According to ACB officials, the accused have been identified as ACP (Sakinaka division) Krishna Chaudhari and constable Harishchandra Shingare with the Powai police.
The complainant had approached Mr Chaudhari to submit an application last year, seeking renewal of the license of his eatery in Powai.
However, Mr Chaudhari kept delaying the renewal and later asked him to meet Mr Shingare. The complainant did as he was told and Shingare told him that his license would not be renewed till he paid Rs 10,000. The complainant then approached the ACB.
The ACB then laid a trap and arrested both Mr Shingare and Mr Chaudhari this evening, booking them both under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.
