Thane: A Shiv Sena leader was brutally killed by some unknown persons in Badlapur town on Saturday morning, the police said in Thane yesterday.
Senior police inspector IR Andalkar of the Badlapur (East) police station told PTI that Keshav Mohite (45), who was a Shiv Sena deputy branch chief, was driving his autorickshaw Saturday morning.
Three people boarded his autorickshaw and wanted to go towards the MIDC area.
While he was driving his autorickshaw they allegedly stabbed him with a sharp weapon.
Mr Mohite was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors.
A manhunt is on for the killers and the immediate motive behind the killing is not known, police sources said.
Before breathing his last Mr Mohite had spelt out three names to his brother which were Bala Lad, Raju Lad and Ramesh Solse, police sources said.
A case has been registered under Section 302 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code and senior police officials have visited the scene of offence.
Meanwhile, autorickshaw drivers and some parts of the town observed a bandh to condemn Mr Mohite murder on Saturday.
It was merely a year ago that another Shiv Sena leader Mohan Raut was brutally killed in the town.
