Mumbai: The crime branch of Thane police on Friday evening arrested six persons for drug peddling from two different places in the city. "Although small quantities of drugs were found with the accused, we are now investigating the source of the drugs," said an assistant inspector Kadam, the investigating officer.

Acting on the tip-off received by Chandrashekhar Joshi, senior inspector from crime branch, one team raided an old structure at Mafatlal Company compound near Kalwa station. They found three persons under the influence of drugs at the spot. They were identified as Sikandar Sheikh, Aman Sheikh and Mohammad Sheikh.

At the same time another team arrested three other persons from near Cidco bus stand at Shendani Koliwada near Thane station. They were identified as Ramesh Tikki, Jaiwant Berry and Kailash Yadav. "Considering the possibilities of dissemination of drugs among youngsters and teenagers, a special drive has been started against drug peddling as per the orders of the police commissioner," said a crime branch official.
