Strike call causes BEST buses to go off Mumbai's roads

Mumbai: The union of Bombay Electric Supply & Transport (BEST), which supplies a large number of buses in Mumbai, has asked its drivers not to report to work from Wednesday midnight.

The strike call means a large number of buses are expected to be off the streets of India's commercial capital. As of now, there are a few buses on the roads, but commuters say they are few and far between. If this strike call continues, there will be huge inconvenience for commuters on Thursday, many of whom are unaware of the strike.

The reason for the strike is that the union is pressing for implementation of Sixth Pay Commission. However, BEST management has asked its staff not to strike work.
