Dhwanil’s father Kamlesh Shroff being consoled by relatives after the funeral
Mumbai:
A 20-year-old son of a stockbroker slipped from the 19th floor of his friend's home and died in the wee hours of Sunday. Dhwanil Shroff, a third year finance student from Jai Hind College had gone to attend a party at his friend's home when the incident occurred.
On Saturday night, Shroff went to his friend Janvi Goyal's home at Woodland Apartment at Peddar Road as her parents had gone to Mathura. Around 11 people had attended the party including his ex-girlfriend Neha (name changed). According to the others present at the party, the two talked and were cordial with each other. At 3.30 am, some of Shroff's friends left the party and returned home.
According to the police, Shroff later slipped from the kitchen of the home around 4.30 am and was rushed to Breach Candy Hospital but was declared dead before admission. "Shroff slipped from the 19th floor of the apartment's kitchen as there was no grill. He went to a friend's home and his friends confessed that they had consumed alcohol and were playing games and watching football. We have filed a case of accidental death but will investigate further to determine if it was a slip or a suicide," said Sudheer Baiknalkar, inspector, Gamdevi police station.
Mr Baiknalkar further added that Shroff was in a relationship with Neha but two years ago they had decided to end it. "He really loved her and was seeing her after a long time, as she lives in London." Dhwanil's father Kamlesh Shroff, a well-known stock broker and member of the BSE said that his son had gone for a party to his friend's home and around 4.30 am he received a call from his son's friend that Dhwanil had slipped and fallen over.
