Mumbai: A teen boy has reportedly drowned at Mumbai's Juhu Beach where he was trying to spot a cargo ship that has been stranded there for nearly two weeks.
The MV Wisdom - a ship owned by a Singapore company- was on its way from Colombo to the Alang shipyard in Gujarat when it ran into a series of technical problems. It first drifted dangerously close to the Worli Sea Link, then ran aground near Juhu Beach.
Extensive efforts by the Navy and others last week to move the 9000-ton failed. A fresh attempt will be made during the next high tide, a few days from now. The idea is for the high tide to help move the Wisdom, making it easier for a tow-boat to lead it away.
However, experts say this is a grueling mission. If the towing damages the hull of the Wisdom (likely, they warn), the Wisdom could start sinking where it is.
