Mumbai: Ten people, mostly industrial workers were killed and four others injured when the tempo in which they were travelling collided with a truck on the Mumbai-Agra national highway here, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Daregaon Bari when the tempo rammed into the cement-laden truck from the rear side killing six persons on the spot. Others succumbed to their injuries on their way to the hospital, they said.
The mishap occurred when the victims, hailing from Satpur in Nashik, were returning from Amravati after attending a marriage there, police said.
Nine out of ten deceased were identified as Pundalik Bakaji Aher (40), Atmaram Shankar (42), Pandharinath Shivram (62), Yuvraj Ramrao (35), (tempo driver), Sandeep Keda (35), Vithal Sitaram (40), Tulshiram Maruti (42), Kailash Sitaram (35) and Milind Gunjal (28), they said.
The injured have been admitted to a private hospital here.
