Police says there is already an extortion case registered against the Kidnapper.

Six people, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a four-year-old from Mumbai. Shockingly, one of the accused has allegedly told the police that he committed the crime so that he could celebrate Diwali with the ransom money.
Four-year old Mohammed Asif was kidnapped from the city's Malvani area on Tuesday evening while returning from some classes. A call was made to the family for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh the next day. A case was registered at Malvani Police Station and then transferred to the Crime Branch.
The car used for the kidnapping was driven by an Uber driver who was logged off from the system and was running the cab as a private car when the crime was committed. Uber has been informed about the driver's arrest by the Mumbai Police.
One of the accused claims to be a journalist with a local publication. Police says there is already an extortion case registered against him. He had even written to the chief minister about security of journalists, police adds.
"This was a difficult case as there was a child involved and we had to get him back alive. The kidnappers could not have got even a whiff of the fact that we were on their trail," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Atulchandra Kulkarni.
Sources in the police say one of the accused has told them he needed money to invest in the publication he was a part of, while another said he wanted to set up a mobile shop.
The boy's father Mohammed Ashraf said, "I don't know how to thank the police. I would never have been able to pay the ransom and without them I don't even know if my child would have been alive. I can never repay what they have done for me."
