This New Singer Debuting In Bollywood Is A Chief Minister's Wife

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' wife Amruta Fadnavis has debuted as playback singer for the movie "Jai Gangaajal" starring Priyanka Chopra. The song has just been released online.

Mrs Fadnavis has sung a devotional song in the Prakash Jha movie. She says she has not accepted any payment for this or any of her other singing assignments.

"It was an overwhelming experience! The music by Salim and Sulaiman and the lyrics by Manoj Muntashir are so beautiful that I was totally lost in my emotions," she told NDTV, adding she was a tad nervous but Mr Jha's calmness helped her through.

Mrs Fadnavis explains that she was recording a song for another movie when this offer came in. "When Prakash Sir heard me sing that song, he felt my voice suited the situation in his film. And that's how he contacted me," Mrs Fadnavis explained.

The recording was over in day and a half.

So what does the Chief Minister think about her singing?

"He was happy and liked the song, more so because Jai Gangaajal is a woman-centric film. So, it's a good start," she said.

Amruta Fadnavis is a banker. When Devendra Fadnavis was elected Chief Minister, she moved to Mumbai along with their daughter Divija.
