Mumbai:
According to the police complaint, Pinky Shah (name changed), a resident of Shastri Nagar was being repeatedly gangraped for the past six months by eight men, who would come to her home after her husband left for work and would rape her, even threatening to kill her son if she didn't do as they pleased.
The incident came to light when the eight accused entered the victim's home on Sunday after her husband had left for work to his shop in Thane. However, the victim's husband returned home midway, and to his horror saw his wife sleeping with one of the men. Thinking his wife was having an affair with the man, Viren Shah (name changed) beat up the man and fought with his wife in front of the people from the neighbourhood. Viren later let the man get away and refrained from filing a police complaint, fearing society's stigma.
However, when he saw another man with Pinky yesterday, he feared that his wife was hiding something from him and asked her to confide in him. Unable to hide the truth any more, Pinky revealed the sordid details to Viren and narrated how the men had initially raped her at knife point and made an MMS and then threatened her with it every time. She also complained how the accused had threatened to kill their child if she did not comply with their demands.
Fuming and upset, Viren then asked his wife to file a complaint with the police following which the cops swung into action and detained four of the accused while the remaining four are yet to be nabbed. According to the police, the eight accused were known to harass women in their area and would pester other passers-by too. Confirming the same, Additional Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangre Patil, (Western Region) said, "Some of the accused have been detained by the authorities and we are investigating the case."
