Three held for loot in Mumbai

Mumbai: Turbhe Police have arrested three persons, who allegedly robbed a trailer driver at Turbhe Naka on Sunday night. The accused have been identified as Basavraj Sharmappa Pawar (32), Govind Mangal Sonawane (24) and Santosh Shamrao Nikam (30), all residents of Sarsole in Nerul.

Subramanium Sadanand, a resident of Kamothe and the driver on trailer (MH-06-AQ-7960) was going towards JNPT from Thane-Belapur road when an autorickshaw stopped the trailer at Turbhe Naka. The accused who were in the auto, robbed Sadanand of Rs 1000 and made away with it. Sadanand had noted down the auto-rickshaw's number (MH-43-C-2949). He then registered a complaint with Turbhe Police Station and accordingly, the police started a search for the auto. The police found the auto along with the three accused. They were later identified by Sadanand.

"We have arrested the three accused and also recovered the stolen money from them. One among the arrested is an auto-rickshaw driver and we are yet to confirm if the vehicle is a stolen one or not. We are investigating the case further to know if they were involved in any such similar cases," an official from Turbhe Police Station said, requesting not to be named. The accused have been arrested under sections 392 and 34 of the IPC.
