As many as three people were killed after a trailer rammed into a car on the busy Mumbai-Pune highway this afternoon, police said.
The incident took place around 2 pm when an Alto car carrying four men had stopped at a toll booth to pay money, just when the trailer crashed into it at high speed, causing the smaller vehicle to hit the road divider.
Those sitting inside the car were injured and immediately taken to a nearby hospital. However, three of them were declared brought-dead, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Divakar Salvi, Sunil Mhatre, Balchandra Mhatre. One Vijendra Jumledar has sustained serious injuries in the accident, police said.
